What is FTP Upload?
FTP Upload is a site function that allows you to submit any artwork files that exceed 10MB in size. Most email systems will struggle to send/receive emails that exceed the 10MB size, so an FTP Upload option is a great way of ensuring that your artwork gets to us quickly. Your artwork files are uploaded to our server by filling out a simple form, and then attaching your artwork file, in a similar fashion to sending an email. To ensure files are uploaded as quickly and neatly as possible, we advise you to compress your artwork into one file - this will conatin everything needed to proceed with production of your job.
Compressing Files
Compressing files is a great way of sending multiple files that may all be related to a single job i.e. fonts, images, page layouts, and pdfs. It keeps all the files in one place (like a secure folder) and also reduces the overall size of the files to the most efficient level possible. Files can be compressed in both PC and Mac format. Please follow the directions below based on your operating system.
For PC Users
1. Put all the files you would like to compress in a folder. To create a new folder, right-click on the screen and scroll down to "New," and then to "Folder." Type in the name of the folder in the space where the text is highlighted.
2. Click and drag the files you want to compress into the new folder.
3. Right-click on the folder, select "Send To" and then click on "Compressed (zipped) Folder." A dialog box will appear that shows you the progress of the compressing files. Wait as the files are compressed.
4. On completion your files will be compressed into one single file. Keep them stored on your desktop, or other easy to access area on your computer. You will need to attach it to your Upload Files form when prompted.
For MAC Users
1. Move the files you would like to compress into a folder. To create a new folder, open a Finder window, select the File menu and click on "New Folder." Type a name for the folder in the space underneath the folder icon where the text is highlighted.
2. Click and drag the files you want to compress into the new folder.
3. Right-click (ctrl + click) on the folder and select "Create Archive." Wait as the files are compressed. You will see a dialog box indicating the progress of the action.
